From Edward Sexton tailoring to Thuma's sold-out Pendleton sofa, here's what stood out in a crowded week of product drops.
The holiday season feels distant in New York, where muggy 70-degree rain persists. Yet for some, that atmosphere already signals Christmas—and the final months of the year are slipping away fast, accelerated by a flood of new product releases.
This week brought an overwhelming volume of launches. Much of it disappointed, but Esquire's editors sifted through to find genuine standouts. Their selections span tailoring, homewares, fragrance, and outdoor gear.
Commerce editor Luke Guillory highlighted two jackets that stopped him in his tracks: one from Edward Sexton and one from Ralph Lauren, both among his favorite sources for tailoring. The Edward Sexton piece features washed cotton velvet with softened pile and reduced sheen, cut in the brand's classically extravagant shape. "It's a masterclass for how men dress now," Guillory said, noting it can finish a tuxedo or be thrown over jeans and a T-shirt for brunch. He added: "If I had one, my friends and family would be sick of it. December 1, through December 25, it would not leave my shoulders."
Guillory also praised Dunhill's British-made boots, calling England the standard bearer for classic shoemaking and Dunhill the current standard bearer for British menswear. His other picks included Lucchese's annual release of coyote fur blankets—"If you want to stop someone in their tracks with a gift this year, this is how you do it"—and Japanese label A.Presse's leather fleece pullover, which he described as taking a simple shape and deciding to "make it leather." He also singled out Gorsch's flannel cape-coat, available through Standard & Strange: "I can't wear it, but someone can and will look very cool in it."
Senior director Krista Jones highlighted western boots from the Anine Bing x Tecovas collaboration, warning that the cool-girl favorite crafted from fine leather would sell out quickly. She also noted Thuma's cabin-core collection with Pendleton, where the sofa sold out in one day though the bed and pillow remain available—"screaming for us to buy an upstate house just so we can own it." Jones additionally recommended Raffles Singapore's new e-commerce destination, The Little Shop, particularly its limited-edition Ginori saucers from collaborations with Smythson, Globe-Trotter, and Christofle.
Fashion assistant Andrea Ríos mentioned Manuel Mathieu's fragrance O, a blend of desert rose, pink pepper, and jasmine she described as "tender" and "elegant and emotional." Senior style editor Alfonso Fernández Navas selected the Burton x FRAGMENT full kit for mountain adventures, while associate commerce editor Bellamy Richardson recommended Soft Services' refillable hand lotion for its hydrating properties and desk-worthy applicator.
Other picks included Parfums de Marly's Crécy fragrance, updated Navy leather noise-canceling headphones, a Chrome Industries x Engineered Garments military-inspired backpack with detachable straps, Canada Goose outerwear, and The North Face's U.S. Ski & Snowboard collection—the brand partners with the team through the 2034 Utah Olympics and Paralympics.
